Do the Vilhemp products meet the “Single-use plastic directive” requirements?
Yes. We always emphasize that our products are reusable. Our cutlery is thick enough (5 g per product) and the straws are also strong enough to clean and reuse them (by handwashing or by an ECO program in the dishwasher).
Are there any special maintaining requirements or storage conditions for Vilhemp products?
In order to preserve a longer life of the products keep it in a dry place protected from sunlight. The heat resistance of our products is 45⁰ Celsius (113⁰ Fahrenheit).
What does the compostability exactly mean?
It means that under certain circumstances the biodegradation will start for sure. The humidity, darkness and temperature are the three most important factors that have to meet in the same time. This is guaranteed in an industrial compost site, where a spectacular degradation starts in 28 days. This process can start in the home composting circumstances as well, but the degradation time may be different.
What do the Vilhemp products exactly contain?
Only natural components: cellulose, and polylactic acid which is produced also from plant (corn). There is no hydrocarbon used, the production is based on economically produced renewable resources.
What is the biggest advantage of the Vilhemp products?
Because of the natural components of the raw material there is no micro-plastic waste at the end of the lifetime of the products. It is harmless also if it gets in the food chain.
What are the other advantages of Vilhemp products compared to pure PLA products?
Vilhemp products have natural look (in contrast to the plastic look pure PLA products). The ingredients give better physical characteristics for the products and also the degradation process will be better (the natural cellulose affect positively the fragmentation).
Thanks to the natural look it can be easily distinguished from the plastic products (unlike the pure PLA products).
Which waste container should I put the Vilhemp products?
At the end of their lifetime put it in the BIO waste. It is very important NOT to throw it to the plastic waste.
